FIRST EVENT IS THE AMERICAN EXPRESS beginning THIS Thursday, January 18, 2024.
RULES:
Choose 6 golfers under a cap of $35,000,000. This is the total earnings of your six golfers, combined, from the 2022 PGA Tour Official $ list. For example, using the 2022 official PGA Tour money earnings.
(These figures are EXAMPLES)
Scotty Scheffler $21,014,342
Keegan Bradley $ 1,565,079
Adam Scott $ 1,382,364
Colin Morakawa $ 4,837,271
“Tom” Kim $ 2,824,580
Sahith Theegala $ 3,124,668
$27,780,872
This would be a good lineup, as the total of these players’ earnings from 2023 is under $35 million. If it would have been over the $28 million cap, the computer will immediately tell you to re-pick. The computer adds up your totals for you, so it helps you move through the picking process quickly. TIP: I’d print out a copy of the 2023 $ earnings from PGA Tour.com, so you get a good idea of what guys made last year. PLEASE NOTE --- The money earnings from PGATour.com may be a little different than our official website due to the system including unofficial event earnings. The Official earnings list is OUR website, NOT PGATour.com’s. You can also access the 2023 $ list from our website. Click on the tab, “Complete PGA Money List”, second from the last tab from bottom of main page, Pool Reports tabs. There is a good number of resources within our website. Just play around.
Whatever your 6 players earn for each tournament, will be your cumulative score for that week. Earnings will build throughout the season, and winners will be broken into two halves of the season.
3. Each week, you can change any, none, or all of your players. You do this through the website. Each player change costs $1. This is what builds the pool. If you keep two players, and change 4, it will cost $4 for that week. Moves will be tabulated throughout the season, and payment for these transactions will be due at the conclusion of the first half of the season, and the final half.
4. Transactions: There will be no exceptions if people don’t get their player changes in on time. All player changes must be made by 6 a.m. (Central Time) on the morning of the first day of the tournament. The system allows moves to be made anytime from Monday through Thursday morning of the tournament. Note, some tournaments start on a Wednesday, and in some cases, the starting times may be earlier or later depending what time zone the tournament is being held. I’ll try and remember to send a reminder, but it is your responsibility to know which tournaments those are. I also have the system send an automatic reminder of the transaction deadlines usually 18-24 hours before deadline.
5. Season: The length of the season is 33 weeks. It is broken into two halves, with a first half prize $ pool, and second half prize $ pool. The first half of the season begins Thursday, January 18, at The American Express, and ends following the AT&T Byron Nelson on May 2-5, which concludes the 16th week of the season. The second half of the season begins the following week, May 9-12 at the Wells Fargo, and concludes with the Tour Championship on August 29 - September 1.
I HAVE ATTACHED A SPREADSHEET WITH EACH TOURNAMENT ON THE SCHEDULE, ALONG WITH THAT WEEK OF OUR SEASON. THE TOURNAMENT # NEXT TO IT IS THE SYSTEM’S EVENT NUMBER WHICH IS FOR ADMIN SERVICES ONLY.
6. There are 4 weekends where there are two tournaments the same weekend. In those cases, the smaller of the two tournaments account for DOUBLE earnings for that week. For example, the Puerto Rico Open (opposite Arnold Palmer Invitational); Corales Puntacana Championships (opposite World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play);
Barbasol Championship (Genesis Scottish Open); and Barracuda Championships (British Open), are all worth double earnings. I will try and remember to send an e-mail reminder during those weeks, however, please make note. Majors bonus $ does not include the second tournament (non-major).
Once again, we will offer incentives for everyone to continue to participate in the second half, by making the second half prize $ more lucrative. We will keep it last year’s levels, which raised it to keep interest, and additionally, we have jacked the Majors bonus from last year, to put special emphasis on the Majors. We’ll base the major’s bonus to the 9 tournaments, identified below.
Guaranteed Prize Structure/Payouts will be as follows:
*IMPORTANT NOTE!!! We may have a larger number of participants. Depending on how many, these payouts and number of winners may increase. They definitely WILL NOT decline but if we have 40+ players (which is fine), I’ll re-think the prize pools.
First Half Second Half
1st $600 $1000
2nd $400 $500
3rd $300 $400
4th $200 $300
5th $100 $200
$1600 $2400
Majors Bonus
First Place (highest cumulative earnings in Majors) = $800
Second Place = $300
Majors include:
The Player’s Championship March 9-12
World Golf Championships – Dell Match Play Open March 22-26
The Master’s April 6-9
PGA Championships May 18-21
US Open June 15-18
British Open July 20-23
Tour Championship August 24-27
Most Qualifiers throughout the entire season = $600
2nd Most Qualifiers throughout the entire season = $300
TOTAL GUARANTEED PAYOUTS = $5800
MORE BELOW
Weekly Bonus: Weekly amounts will be divided at the end of the year. It will be based on the final transactions pool ($1 player trades). See example below:
Based on 21 players:
Entry Fees $200 x 21 = $4200
Transactions 4300 (Estimated Example). = $4300
(Estimated)
TOTAL Pool: $8500
Weekly Bonuses: $ based on number of $1 transactions throughout the season. For example, if we have $4300 (last year’s # of transactions), then the first $ will cover the guaranteed payouts. Then the remaining $ will go into a pool and divided by 32 weeks ($134/week).
NOTE: For the Tour Championship, last event of the season, we calculate the event earnings at .15% of the total earnings. That is because they play for first prize of $18MM, which includes bonus earnings for the FedEx Cup weekly standings. So for the winner, the winning earnings should be $2.7MM.
FINAL BONUS OPPORTUNITY: We will continue to reward the overall winner (32-week totals), who will receive a free Entry into the 2021 FGL. The FGL home page tracks season-long earnings. Sand Hallow (Jeff Puffett) was the 2023 winner of this bonus, and their $200 entry for this year is included.
