Pool Rules for I Like Big Putts And I Cannot Lie
| FANTASY GOLF CHALLENGE 2025
The 2025 Fantasy Golf Challenge is a golf pool where you try to pick the winner each week. You get to choose 2 players each week which increases your chances of picking the winner.
You collect the amount of winnings that both of your picks earn (combined). If one of your picks misses the cut, you collect $0.00 for that pick. If one of your picks win the tournament you earn the 1st place prize money. For example, say one of your picks is McIlroy and the other is Morikawa and they finish 8th and 3rd place which earns them $125,000 and $425,000, respectively. . . you then earn $550,000 for that week.
The goal is to collect the most $ for:
1) Each quarter (5 total)
- 6 weeks per quarter
- # of payout places depends on # of players that sign up (up to 5 total places)
2) Overall season (5 quarters combined)
- # of payout places depends on # of players that sign up (up to 6 total places)
3) The 4 majors, the Players Championship and the Genesis Invitational are SKINS tournaments (6 total) where you can win cash by picking the winner
- If no one picks winner of SKIN tournament, pot carries over to next major (next major is now worth 2x).
- If there is no winner for the last major (British Open), the skin will carry over to the 1st week of the playoffs (with no additional skin beyond the one(s) being carried over) and will continue each week thereafter until there is a winner.
- If more than one team picks the winner of a SKIN tournament, the tiebreaker will be the earnings of the other (2nd) player picked for that SKIN tournament for each team. If more than one team is tied after the tiebreaker, they will split the SKIN equally. For example, let’s assume 15 people select the winner, Xander Schauffele, for a SKIN tournament. After Schauffele, the next highest finisher that someone selected is Matsuyama who finishes T7 with 2 of the original 15 picking him. Thus, those 2 teams would split the skin equally.
- A team that does not make its picks (and must use default picks) for a SKIN tournament is not eligible to win that SKIN tourney although they will still receive the earnings of their default picks in the standings.
4) Tour Championship (late August)
- As the Tour Championship (final week) does not have an actual purse it pays out to its participants, the payouts for this tourney will be as manually applied in this pool as follows:
Place Winnings Place Winnings Place Winnings
1 $3,600,000 11 $520,000 21 $260,000
2 $2,160,000 12 $480,000 22 $245,000
3 $1,360,000 13 $440,000 23 $230,000
4 $990,000 14 $400,000 24 $215,000
5 $830,000 15 $380,000 25 $200,000
6 $750,000 16 $360,000 26 $185,000
7 $700,000 17 $340,000 27 $175,000
8 $650,000 18 $320,000 28 $165,000
9 $600,000 19 $300,000 29 $155,000
10 $560,000 20 $280,000 30 $150,000
- Payouts above equal $18.0M total purse which approximates the total purse for the top 30 players of the BMW Championship the week before. In the event the BMW Championship purse is materially increased, the payouts above may be subject to change by the commissioner to be commensurate with updated payouts of the BMW.
- Payouts for this tournament will mirror the Final Fed Ex Cup rankings upon tournament conclusion and are based on final scores INCLUDING the strokes given prior to round 1 based on rankings after BMW.
• For example, let’s say Scottie Scheffler is in 1st after BMW and Max Homa is 3rd. If Scheffler shoots -5 combined for all 4 rounds and ends up -15 (including his -10 starting position) and Homa shoots -8 combined for all 4 rounds and ends up -14 (including his -6 starting position), Scheffler would finish ahead of Homa even though Homa shot 3 strokes better from a gross standpoint.
PICK DEADLINE. Picks are due by 12:00 a.m. midnight Thursday night (Friday morning) so for most tournaments you will see all of Thursday’s first round results before making your pick. On occasion, rain delays will force picks to be made prior to all first round results being posted. On very rare occasions where most or all of the first round is delayed until Friday, the commissioner may at his discretion choose to push the deadline back until sometime Friday morning.
All picks will be entered and tracked via our league website located at following link . . . http://www.fglweb.com/fglpool01.php?ifid=949 The password is “putts” but you will need to register your team if you are a 1st time player to the league.
DEFAULT PICKS. If you forget to make your picks in a given week, you will be given the 21st and 22nd place finishers (or the next closest place finisher following 21st and 22nd in case of a tie) at the end of the 1st round (assuming you haven’t already used them). In the case of a tie of more than 2 players, you will be given the player with the earliest last name (alphabetically speaking). For example, if 4 players are tied for 19th at -4 and Homa, Day, Finau and Spieth are tied for tied for 23rd at -3 after round 1, your picks for that week would be Day and Finau.
YOU MAY ONLY PICK A GOLFER ONCE DURING THE SEASON. For example, if you pick Cantlay during the Masters, you cannot use him the rest of the season.
ALSO NOTE THE PURSE FOR EACH TOURNAMENT IS DIFFERENT EACH WEEK. For example, the purse for the Players Championship is $25.0M while the purse for the John Deere Classic is only $7.4M. Make sure to take that into consideration when making your picks each week as there are a lot of different strategies that can be employed in determining when and when not to use a player.
THE ENTRY FEE IS $160.00 (which includes website fee) by cash, check, Venmo or Paypal and you can enter as many times as you would like. Payment is due by no later than March 1 and can be made using one of the following 3 options:

IN-TOURNEY WITHDRAWALS/DISQUALIFICATIONS. If a team picks a player who withdraws, is disqualified, or is unable to finish a tournament for any reason, that team will collect the amount of winnings that player earns prior to his withdrawal/disqualification for that tourney (likely $0). If a team is given a default pick (as defined in the rules) and that player subsequently withdraws, is disqualified, or is unable to finish a tournament for any reason, that team will collect the amount of winnings that player earns prior to his withdrawal/disqualification for that tourney (likely $0).
